  Over-Sexed and the city?

It certainly seemed like a lot of commotion for a movie based on the fashion obsessed lives of women in their 30’s and 40’s desperate for a piece of the good life. Downtown Manhattan became obsessed with the premiere of the TV show turned film when it premiered last week at Radio City Music Hall.

The producers of Sex and the City were attempting to make as big of a media splash as possible to bring the movie to a greater audience than its typical female following in order for the film project to make some serious coin.  All cast members and a number of celebrities were on hand for the opening screening. The film grossed $55.7 million for its opening weekend greatly exceeding expectations.

Dunkin' Donuts quickly moved to kill an online ad featuring Rachael Ray after conservative bloggers started a buzz that her scarf made her appear as if she was dressed for jihad.

It looked too much like a keffiyeh which is the traditional headdress worn by Arab men. In fact the black and white silk scarf had a paisley design and was selected by a stylist for the advertising shoot. Margie Myers, senior VP-communications for Dunkin' Brands, said in a statement. "Absolutely no symbolism was intended."
