According to Forbes Magazine the Beijing Games is the world’s largest fashion show. They offer unbeatable exposure with 4 billion people expected to tune in to the summer Olympics. 

Designers such as Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana are outfitting the athletes and officials. Others like Phillip Lim, Burberry Prorsum, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent have produced collections in honour of the event.

Even Gucci and Prada have come out with limited-edition accessory collectables in celebration of the spectacle.  After the Olympics, Speedo will begin selling its LZR Pro swimsuit to the public for a record $550.

Keira Knightley's new film, The Duchess, will preview during New York Fashion Week. It is based on the 18th century life of Georgiana Cavendish, the Duchess of Devonshire, who is often called the original Empress of Fashion. During her glamorous but troubled life she was painted by Thomas Gainsborough and Joshua Reynolds. She was also an ancestor of Lady Diana Spencer who became Princess Diana - Princess of Wales.
