Indian fashion designer Ritu Beri will be honoured with the Chevalier Des Arts et Des Lettres. The award is presented by the President of France in recognition of significant contributions to the arts.

Trained in New Delhi she is the first Asian designer to head a French fashion house when she headed up Scherrer. She was one of the first Indian designers to show her work in France. The French Ambassador to India will confer the prize on the designer October 21st at his residence. Beri described the honour as a dream come true.
